Dry Dog Shampoo
Smelly dog? Got company coming? Don’t have the time for a sudsy bath that will inevitably lead to a clean-up of your bathroom?
Then what you need is the dog owner’s must have grooming product: dry dog shampoo!
Washing the family dog can be a tough job, especially if he or she doesn’t exactly enjoy getting wet, getting scrubbed or even worse, getting blow dried! For those in between bath days, when you want your pet smelling fresh and looking clean, dry dog shampoo is the perfect answer.
While not an alternative to regular bathing, dry shampoo for dogs is a good substitute for those times when there just isn’t time in your schedule or even when your dog is prohibited from getting wet due to surgery or some other form of wound care.
Dry dog shampoos work to absorb and combat the oils that dirt and odors adhere to in your dogs coat.
Spray on (be sure to shield the eyes) the powdery shampoo, rub into your dog’s coat and wait a few minutes (according to manufacturer’s instructions.)
Then brush well. Gently, but well. Remove as much of the powdery residue as you can.
Your best friend’s coat will be left shiny looking and fresh scent smelling!
Dry dog shampoo isn’t meant to replace bathing. Remember that it’s only meant to be used in between baths because your pet needs to have a good deep cleaning regularly and dry shampoo, while it serves a purpose, is not as effective as a good warm sudsy bath. Regular bathing will help to prevent sores, skin rashes and other skin problems that dry dog shampoo cannot combat. Don’t be confused by product names and keep in mind that dry dog shampoo is not the same thing as dog shampoo for dry skin.
Be sure to look at labels and try to choose natural products that contain aloe, oats, and other organic moisturizing and conditioning ingredients. Avoid chemicals that may cause your dog to have an allergic reaction. Not all dry dog shampoos are equal. Sometimes it may be necessary to change brands until you find the right one for your pet. Check online for various brands and reviews as well as with your veterinarian or local pet supply store for recommendations and advice on how and when to clean your dog with dry dog shampoo.
